Kate Johnston Selected
Alexandria Bay- Raising $1, 275.17 for the Alexandria Township Historical Society, Almara Hutchinson, granddaughter of Norm and Lucinda Hutchinson, will reign over the Pirate Days festivities in Alexandria Bay this weekend. Almara, sponsored by Little River Fudge Company, will be a junior at Alexandria Central School this fall. She enjoys playing tennis and soccer and plans to pursue a career in child psychology.
First runner-up is Annie Compo, who collected $ 1, 115.00 for the society in the annual Kate Johnston contest. Annie is a graduate of Immaculate Heart Central and a sophomore at SUNY Genesseo. A pre-med major, she enjoys jet skiing on the river.
Runners-up also included Stacie Mae Brown, sponsored by the River Hospital employees, and Andria Turner, representing The Dancing Dog.
Votes are gathered through contributions to the historical society, with each $1 collected giving the candidate one vote. The candidate with the most votes will appear in the various Pirate Weekend events including the invasion of the river on Saturday and the parade on Sunday.
