Today (Friday, October 21, 2011) at about 11:30 AM a small 14 foot aluminum boat with 3 people in it started taking in water out near Casino Island in front of Alexandria Bay. Alex Bay Fire Dept Chief Service was 1st on the scene, followed by the Coast Guard, and finally by a crew from Roger's Marine who helped get the boat back to shore and out of the water. Apparently the three people in the boat had life jackets on and were able to swim to Casino Island.
We're thinking that their small boat took on water because of the nasty conditions out there today. Everyone involved is ok.
Great job by all involved in assisting the people and also in retrieving the boat. This is a good reminder that The River is NO JOKE.. It can be your best friend or your worst enemy in the blink of an eye. Be safe out there folks..
If anyone has more details on what happened.. Feel free to leave a comment..
