(Trail volunteers help rebuild a bridge on the Macsherry Trail on Indian Point, near Kring Point.)
The Thousand Islands Land Trust is having a trail clean up of the Otter Creek property in Alex Bay this Saturday, May 3 at 10am. We have invited trail maintenance volunteers and Chief Brian Breheny (US Coast Guard, Alex Bay) has arranged for the Alex Bay Boy Scouts, and some of his crew to help us out. We will be clearing the trails, cutting up some downed trees, and cleaning up trash that has accumulated for many years.
This will be an on-going project, since there is a lot to do to reclaim these trails, so you can join us this Saturday, or later this summer for some fun and hard work. We also hope to have a trek or two this summer on the preserve if the trail work goes well.
If you are interested in joining us, please call the TILT office at 686-5345 and get directions. Bring boots, gloves and bug spray. If you have chainsaws, loppers and bow saws, please bring them along!
Hope to see you there!
